One of the problems that we came across was that the owner wanted too much and had a budget for
too little. We could, of course, have developed a website that had all the elements that he

We developed a database driven website using Microsoft Access and Fox Pro. Experienced developers know that Access is not a high performance database, especially for the Internet. At the time and given the platform restrictions, there was not much else that we could use to make this site work properly. Our programmers developed custom functions that would use the Access database strictly for the website administration. This meant that only one connection would ever require the use of the database. When administration changes were made, the custom function would dynamically created static content to be displayed on the front-end of the site. This allowed for many users on the website without sacrificing speed or a possible database crash. The back-end administration resides behind a password protected area and allows for complete administration to configure site, schedule events with reservation of event tickets and administer articles.
